Rakowski leaves them in his rear view mirror,,,

Alex Rakowski of the Edmonton Petroleum Club earned his second McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour win of the season today at the Stony Plain Junior Open by firing a brilliant 6-under par 66 to cruise to an EIGHT shot win over Jordan Sterling of Broadmoor, who was a distant second with a 74. Rakowski made 7 birdies offset by a solitary bogey in his round, low on the Tour this year. Barrett Belland of the Glendale was solo third on 75 while Carlin Spink of Whitecourt and the host club's Louis Dumais were T4 on 76.

Sterling, Dumais and Spink all qualified for the Tour Championship coming up three weeks from tomorrow at Wolf Creek Golf Resort with their scores today. They will be joined by Elliot Holt and Mackenzie Lubberding of Stugeon Valley, who tied for first in the flight for boys born in 1994-95 with matching 78s. Zac Yurick of Windermere made the Wolf Creek field from the flight for boys born in 1996 and later with a 78.

Five junior girls were on hand today, and when the cards were in, Sydney Johnson-Parker of Glendale and Broadmoor's Megan Vermillion tied for first with 89s. Johnson-Parker parred the first hole of a sudden-victory playoff to take the junior girls' title. The Tour Championship qualifying spot went to Glendale's Daniela Donnelly.

Next events on Tour are tomorrow in Innisfail, followed on Tuesday by the Olds Junior Open.

Q= Qualified for Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 30th.

WC = Wild Card qualifier for Tour Championship.

PQ = Player had previously qualified for Tour Championship.
