Spencer and Janais-Dyck take the Grande Prairie Jr Open titles.....

Thanks to Bob Martens and his staff at the Grande Prairie GCC for sending me the results of their Junior Open held July 26-27.  I am now finally back in the office in Edmonton and able to get the results on the website.  Sorry for the delay, but I have been on the road all week and just now getting the chance to update the G.P. results.

Thomas Spencer of the host club shot terrific scores of 73-72 (145) in a tight three-way battle with his clubmates Tyson Beaupre and Nolan Trudeau.  Beaupre, the 2008 Alberta Junior Boys' Champion and Trudeau, tied for second with scores of 148, but both also earned their way into the Tour Championship at Wolf Creek, along with Spencer.  Beaupre also won the very popular Long Drive Contest after Monday's first round of the 36-hole tournament with a ridonkulous drive of 377 yards.  Tyson can take it deep!

Other qualifiers from the GP event were Rylan Dejong-Dyck from the flight for boys born in 1994-95, who shot rounds of 85-85 (170) and Max Sekulic from the flight for boys born in 1996 and later.  Sekulic earned his way into Wolf Creek with rounds of 87-87 (173).

In the Junior Girls' division, Janais Dejong-Dyck, Rylan's sister, bested the field of five junior girls with scores of 81-85 (166), six shots clear of Sara Spencer, also of Grande Prairie.

Thanks again to Mr. Martens and his committee for the excellent tournament they run at the Grande Prairie GCC.

The McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour events.
