Randy Hunter of the host Carstairs Golf Club used his home course knowledge to help him fire a fine 3-under par 69 today at the Cartstairs Junior Open, today's stop on Tour. Hunter finished 3 shots ahead of up and coming 14-year-old Jack Wood of Banff Springs, whose even-par 72 was a career low in competition. Cam McCormack of Bearspaw and Cole Robertson of Carstairs finished T3 another shot back at 73. Robertson's effort was noteworthy as his 73 contained a 9 on the short par-5 17th hole!

Hunter, Buszowski McCormack and Robertson all punched their tickets today for the season-ending Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort. Wood had previously qualified. Those players will be joined by Brett Pasula (84) of Red Deer from the flight for boys born in 1995 and later, along with Wild Card qualifiers Luc Chase of Wintergreen, Tanner Sautner of Canmore and Sautner's clubmate Eric Praught. All the Wild Card qualifiers shot 74.

Another noteworthy accomplishment today was the earning of 10 Srixon Order of Merit points for the 6th-place finish by Brendan Brown of The Hamptons in the flight for junior boys born in 1995 and later. What's so great about some kid shooting 89 to finish 6th in his age group, you say? Well, Brendan is all of NINE years old and he more than held his own today, beating several juniors as many as 7 or 8 years his senior with all the junior boys playing from the same tees. Nicely done, young man!
Next event on Tour is tomorrow in Strathmore, with a busy slate of 4 tournaments in 4 days coming up next week.
