Kelly Amundrud of Calgary has up to now been the only two-time Tour Champion, capturing the girls' title in 2005 and 2006, but Chase Teron of Red Deer GCC now has an opportunity to duplicate that feat on the junior boys' side after capturing the Pine Hills Junior Open on Monday at the beautiful Pine Hills GC, just west of Rocky Mountain House.  What we lacked today for quantity of entries (surprisingly only 52 kids were on hand) we more than made up for in quality as many of the players were fresh off excellent performances last week at the Alberta Junior Championships in Claresholm.

Teron's 72 was good for a one-shot margin  over his clubmate Daniel Thompson and two shots clear over Clinton McAllister of Pheasantback.  Teron's younger brother Jesse was fourth with a 75, and all four players earned their way into the Tour Championship at Wolf Creek Golf Resort on August 25.  Joining them will be Camrose's Karsten Rostad (76) and Junior Girls winner Abbey Gill of the Derrick (95).

Two more Tour events this week: Tuesday afternoon in Carstairs and Wednesday morning in Strathmore.  Carstairs closed their entries Monday at 5 p.m., but as of this morning, Strathmore was taking any last-minute entries up to 5 p.m. today.
