Stony Plain GC has had one of Alberta's best junior programs for a long time, and from the looks of things, their program remains very strong.  Plenty of volunteers and great organization have always separated the Stony Plain tournament from many other events, and today was no exception.

Only 3 events remain on the 2007 Tour schedule after today to earn Srixon Order of Merit ranking points, and for players to earn one of the coveted spots in the Tour Championship coming up on August 27 at Wolf Creek Golf Resort.  Jace Barros of the Edmonton Petroleum Club was best among the junior boys on hand today, firing a fine 3-under par 69, good for a 3-shot margin over the host club's Chad Adolph.  Tyler Gust of Wetaskiwin was another shot back alone in third at 73.

Qualifiers for Wolf Creek today in addition to Adolph were Wild Card qualifiers Patrick Sloan, Barros' clubmate at the Pete Club and Isaac Baier of Wainwright. Kevin Piper of Sandpiper and Tim McGowan of Willow Park tied for first in the flight for players born in 1991 & 1992 and as time did not permit a playoff, both players were awarded spots at Wolf Creek. Tyler Saunders of Glendale was best in the flight for boys born in 1993 and later, firing an 82, which is very impressive considering Tyler was born in 1995.  He becomes the youngest player this year to qualify for Wolf Creek.

Nine junior girls were on hand today, including several that were preparing to play tomorrow morning in the Women's Pro-Am at the CN Canadian Womens' Open at the Royal Mayfair. Kaitlin Allan will be representing the Royal Mayfair in the Pro-Am tomorrow and her 76 today was best among the girls.  Kelly Amundrud of Calgary CC, the two-time defending Tour Champion, was 3 shots back in 2nd with a 79, which gains her entry to Wolf Creek to go for the three-peat. Kelly is also in the field for the Women's Pro-Am tomorrow.

Only three events remain on the 2007 Tour regular schedule.  The tournament at Blackhawk GC on August 20 is full, but entries remain open for Indian Lakes on August 21 and at Nanton on August 24.

Q= Qualified for Tour Championship

Code of Conduct

The McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. The efforts of the administrative staff and the volunteers that go into making the Tour so successful demand a very high standard of behavior and decorum from the competitors. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour events.
