6:00 p.m. ---Jason McKinlay of Consort and Megan Vermillion of Broadmoor survived a waterlogged golf course in Lacombe today to capture the boys and girls divisions at the Jordan Brand Memorial Junior Open, today's stop on the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Tour. McKinlay, who is now working in the pro shop at Lacombe, fired a steady 1-over par 72, three shots clear of 13-year old Jason Martens of Windermere. Due to today's inclement weather, we have postponed the Carstairs Junior Open until Thursday, July 29. On that date, the tournament will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. If you have entered today's event, please phone the Carstairs pro shop at 403.337.3382 to make arrangements for either a refund or to have your entry fee applied to the July 29 reschedule.
5:00 p.m. ---We had it all today,,,a drenching midmorning rain, a sudden victory playoff in the Junior Girls division and the 16th Hole in One in Tour history when Taylor Fontaine, 15, smoothed an 8-iron into the hole on the 6th hole this morning. Alanna Jefferis of Belvedere captured the junior girls division in a sudden victory playoff over Rachele Nielsen of Summerland, BC and Connor Grimes of the Edmonton Petroleum Club had the day's low round among the junior boys with a hard-earned 78. 7:05 p.m. ---Brennan Kearney of Fort McMurray ended a great week of junior golf today with a win at the Barrhead Junior Open, firing a fine 1-under par 71 on the beautifully groomed Barrhead GC. The McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour takes great pride in the quality of its competitors, its host facilities, and the support provided by our Corporate Partners. We have therefore developed a formal Code of Coduct modeled on that of Alberta Golf that provides a set of guidelines for the young men and women that wish to compete in McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour events.
