Ryan Vold, Director of Golf at Wolf Creek Golf Resort, is one of the founding partners of the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour, and has long been recognized as a tremendous supporter of Junior Golf in Alberta.
The 2009 season brings a major change to Wolf Creek as they open their new nine holes, located across the road from their existing East Nine, bringing the resort to 36 holes. The new nine will combine with the South Nine to form The Links Course, which will run as a separate 18 holes to their original East/West rotation, which will be known as The Old Course.
As of May 1, 2009, plans are to host the 2009 Tour Championship on The LInks Course, weather and growing conditions permitting. Ryan is eager to showcase his new course layout to the Tour Championship participants, and hopefully the new nine holes matures quickly this summer to make that possible.
The Tour Championship will be held Monday, August 31, 2009. Yes, I know that Calgary schools have moved their start dates earlier than at first planned this year to accommodate the World Skills Competition that is coming to the Calgary area in late August. However, when we learned of that conflict, we had already set the 2009 Tour schedule, and it should only affect a few participants.
