Format: 18 holes stroke play. Shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
The Course: Red Deer’s River Bend GC is an excellent course on which to hold a junior tournament. It is fairly wide open, but not so much that you don’t have to pay attention to what you’re doing, and the pace of play keeps moving along. They have some excellent holes, especially a stretch on the Back 9 that winds through some mature forest on the north side of the course.

Key Hole: Hole #12 – par 4, 398 yards (Championship tee) • Not the longest par 4 on the course by any means, but maybe the most treacherous. Dogleg left with lateral water hazard all the way down the left side. The more water you want to carry off the tee, the shorter your approach to this severely sloped back-to-front green. Three putts are more than common here.
How to find the course and travel times: East of Gaetz Ave. on 67th St., across the Red Deer River, then north at the lights at the top of the hill. About 5 km. north, then turn left into the river valley. Good signage. Map on the website.
